Can I schedule sessions by phone?
Yes. Dr. Soward is available to work with you in-person, by telephone, or through video conferencing. This flexibility and accessibility helps eliminate travel barriers some clients may otherwise experience.
How do the phone or video conferencing sessions work?
Dr. Soward will contact the client at the scheduled time. Times are in Central Time—U.S. & Canada. Video conferencing sessions are held on the securely encrypted platform, Doxy.me, a HIPAA-compliant, telemedicine technology.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel an appointment?
If you do not show up for your scheduled session, and you have not given notice at least 48 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of your session. This policy is necessary, because that time is reserved for you and cannot be given to anyone else.
Does Dr. Soward accept insurance?
No, Dr. Soward’s office is a private pay practice and does not participate in insurance panels. That said, some patients are able to submit invoices for reimbursement for psychotherapy, and Dr. Soward is happy to provide an invoice that may assist with that process.
What is online therapy, or Telemedicine?
Online psychotherapy occurs between a licensed psychologist (or other mental health provider) and a patient, by phone or videoconferencing, rather than at a physical location. Also called Telemedicine, providers utilize telecommunication technology to provide real-time health care to patients at a distance.
